Bicentennial Commission Touts Accomplishments

Subscribe NowThe Indiana Bicentennial Commission has released a recap of Signature, Capital and Legacy projects completed as part of the state’s 200th anniversary efforts. The projects were designed to showcase Indiana throughout its 92 counties.
The commission was launched in 2012 and said response from the public exceeded expectations. For example, it set an early goal of 200 applications for Legacy Projects. By the end of last year, 1,650 had been officially endorsed. The counties with the highest concentrations of Legacy Projects are: Marion, Greene, Carroll, Porter, Allen and Lake.
The Signature Projects include: The Children of Indiana Nature Park, Bicentennial Nature Trust, Bicentennial Visioning Project, Bicentennial Torch Relay, Commemorative Medal, Commemorative Book, Art Project, Hoosier Homecoming, Celebrate Indiana: The Bicentennial Gala.
Capital Projects include: The Indiana State Archives, Bicentennial Plaza and the Statehouse Education Center
