Colts to Pull Training Camp From Anderson
After seven years, the Indianapolis Colts are moving training camp from Anderson University. A university trustee confirms to Inside INdiana Business that President John Pistole informed faculty and staff of the decision Monday. IIB has also confirmed that the team has been in discussions about a potential training camp move to DePauw University in Greencastle.
The city, university and team have operated year-to-year on an agreement since returning to the campus in 2010. In a statement, Pistole said "Anderson University has welcomed and enjoyed hosting the Indianapolis Colts Training Camp for the past seven years. With each passing summer, the university has understood that the specific duration and location of the training camp is under the management and discretion of the Indianapolis Colts. The university is proud of its 22 cumulative years of service as the training camp home for the Indianapolis Colts."
Prior to hosting camp in Anderson, the Colts used the facilities at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute from 1999 to 2009 and before that, the team held training camp at AU from the time it located to Indianapolis in 1984 until 1998.
Our partners at The Herald Bulletin talked with Mayor Thomas Broderick, who said "I’ve been hearing through the grapevine this was likely going to happen. You know something like this (hosting Colts camp) is not going to last forever."
