The six-mile State Road 641 bypass connects U.S. 41/150 south of Terre Haute to I-70, U.S. 40 and State Road 46 to the east. The Indiana Department of Transportation says the project will help boost the region’s economic competitiveness.
State Senator Jon Ford (R-38) says "I’m thrilled for the opening of the State Road 641 bypass. The bypass will help with the expansion and development on the east side of Terre Haute and will provide convenience to local residents." Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett is also encouraged. "This new corridor will definitely help the Terre Haute economy by allowing for new developments. I look forward to seeing the economic impact for our future," he said in a news release from INDOT.
INDOT says the new bypass will help development near the SR 641 exits and the nearby Vigo County Industrial Parks. Some remaining construction will continue along the new corridor. It is expected to be complete later this year. You can connect to more information about the project by clicking here.
