IMS to Host Air Race Championship
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway will play host this fall to the season finale of the Red Bull Air Race. After drawing more than 65,000 people to the inaugural race at IMS last year, the series will crown a new champion when it returns October 13-15.
The speedway hosted the penultimate Red Bull Air Race event in 2016, which was won by Matthias Dolderer, who went on to take the championship after the season finale in Las Vegas. IMS announced shortly thereafter that the race would return in 2017.
"IMS is where the biggest names in motorsports come to produce epic moments and make sporting history," said IMS President Doug Boles. "Aviation is in our DNA, and we’re honored to host the season finale at the very same venue where the Wright Brothers once flew. Indy embraced the Air Race pilots and teams in 2016 and our fans will be even more excited to see a global champion crowned in 2017."
Tickets for the October event are already on sale. You can view highlights of the 2016 event in the view below.
