By a unanimous vote, newly-elected Superintendent of Public Instruction Jennifer McCormick was chosen to lead the board.
This is the first time the board has been allowed to vote for its own chairperson, thanks to legislation passed by the Indiana General Assembly. McCormick was elected to the state superintendent position in November, defeating incumbent Glenda Ritz. The board had been chaired by Ritz, which was the responsibility of the superintendent prior to this year.
Proud to be @INSBOE chair! Looking forward to a great partnership! It’s time!

The board also unanimously approved the final grades for school corporations. Only six districts received grades of "D" or "F," while 23 were scored as "A." In all, 175 school corporations received a "B" grade and 85 were "C"-rated. Districts will have 30 days to appeal their grades to the board.
