Indiana Landmarks says preservation and restoration efforts are underway at sites in several Indiana communities. The organization says work has begun on projects in Jeffersonville, Evansville and Corydon.

In Jeffersonville, work is underway at a carriage house near the Howard Steamboat Museum. The project will turn the building into an event and exhibit facility.

Developers in Evansville will use more than $100,000 from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs’ Historic Renovation Grant Program to turn the 1888 Siegel’s Building and 1900 O’Donnell Building into a development with ground-level retail and upper-floor apartments.

Corydon leaders are looking to preserve the character of the state’s first capital by establishing the Corydon Historic Preservation commission. In neighboring Floyd County, the town of Greenville has also created a preservation commission.
