The University of Notre Dame has appointed Bryan Ritchie vice president and associate provost for innovation. He currently serves as chief executive officer of Utah-based private equity investment company GrowthSPORT. In his new role, Ritchie will oversee the university’s IDEA Center and coordinate innovation and entrepreneurship programs. He will also direct the development of the new Thomas H. and Diane G. Quinn Hall for Innovation and Change, which will house the IDEA Center and offer space for 25 to 30 startup companies. Before founding GrowthSPORT in 2015, Ritchie served as associate vice president for technology venture development and associate vice president for research at the University of Utah. He also served in several roles at Michigan State University, including co-director of the Michigan Center for Innovation and Economic Prosperity and the university’s Entrepreneurship Network. Notre Dame unveiled in September the launch of the IDEA Center, which stands for Innovation, Discovery and Enterprise Acceleration, which it said will provide services to aid with the development and commercialization of ideas and formation of businesses.
