In a tax abatement request being considered by the Allen County Council, the company says no jobs will be created as a result of the investment, but it will allow for the retention of the 1,600 workers currently employed at the plant.
The company says the investment aims to upgrade and modernize its existing manufacturing equipment. The abatement application says the company plans to purchase and install new equipment through December 2020.
BF Goodrich is seeking a 10-year personal property tax abatement that will save the company nearly $3.5 million. The council will consider the abatement request at its Thursday meeting.
The Woodburn plant has been in operation since 1961. The company reported $250 million in sales in 2015, down from $278 the previous year and $263 in 2013.
