The lieutenant governor wrapped up the trip Tuesday after meeting with government officials and companies with Indiana ties, including Rolls-Royce Corp., Tate & Lyle PLC and ArcelorMittal.
Holcomb’s office says the governor-elect met Tuesday with Tate & Lyle chief executive officer Javed Ahmed to discuss the company’s Indiana operations and potential growth opportunities. Holcomb also met with Lakshmi Mittal, CEO of ArcelorMittal, which employs about 8,500 workers throughout Indiana.
"Indiana is a key player in the world’s economy," said Holcomb. "Tate & Lyle and ArcelorMittal are just two of the 800 overseas-based businesses that currently employ 152,000 Hoosiers across Indiana. Building relationships with established economic partners like the U.K. and fostering new relationships with developing partners around the globe is a key priority as we work to set new records for Indiana job creation and economic growth."
While in London, Holcomb met with U.K. Minister of State for Europe and the Americas Sir Alan Duncan to discuss the shared economic, cultural and security priorities between Indiana and the U.K. More than 60 U.K-based companies have operations in Indiana while about 20 Indiana-based companies have facilities in the U.K.
Earlier in the week, Holcomb and the delegation met with representatives from Rolls-Royce and U.K.-based Xtrac, both of which have operations in central Indiana. The delegation includes Indiana Secretary of Commerce Victor Smith and representatives from the Indiana Economic Development Corp.
