Newburgh-based Morley and Associates Inc. has promoted James Morley to president, succeeding his father, James Q. Morley, who is now chairman of the company. James was previously secretary and managing engineer and has worked in the firm since 1995. He has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Land Survey Engineering from Purdue University and is licensed as a Professional Engineer and Professional Land Surveyor in several states, including Indiana. Bret Sermersheim has been appointed vice president of the midwest office and director of land surveying, succeeding Danny Leek, who retired earlier this year. Sermersheim received an Associates of Science in Land Surveying Technology from Vincennes University and is a licensed Professional Land Surveyor in Indiana and Tennessee. He started with the company in 1990 and has also served as president of the Southwest Chapter of the Indiana Society of Professional Land Surveyors. Darren Morley has been promoted to vice president of east coast region and director of architecture. He previously served as managing architect and previously worked for Hodgetts+Fung and later Dax Studios in Los Angeles, C, before returning to the firm in 2008. Darren has a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design from Ball State University in Muncie. He is also a licensed Residential and Commercial General Contractor in Vanderburgh County and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers. Darren is a past president of the Construction Specifications Institute of Southwest Indiana. The firm is celebrating 40 years in business in 2016. Incorporated in October 1976 and starting in operation in November of the same year in a small office in downtown Evansville, Morley started with four original principals, beginning a long tradition of serving both public and private development organizations in the region.
