The deal with Community Healthcare System involves registered nurse care coordinators helping patients navigate the health care system.
Cigna says the system, which includes Community Hospital in Munster, St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago and St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, may also receive incentives from Cigna through a "pay for value" agreement. The structure involves meeting quality improvement and medical cost-reduction targets.
Community Healthcare System Chief Medical Officer Alan Kumar says "we are excited to partner with Cigna through our clinically integrated network. Community Healthcare Partners’ clinically integrated network is a collaboration among our hospitals, primary care physicians and specialists to continuously improve the effectiveness of health care services. It is consistent with our mission to improve the health of our patients and provide high quality care through our health care system. The partnership is part of the Cigna Collaborative Care program, which uses incentives to help drive improved care, affordability and customer experience.
