Manufacturer to Lay Off 65 in Lafayette

The layoffs, which are expected to be permanent, will take place January 15, according to the company. The affected employees work at TRW’s plants at 800 Heath Street and 4820 Dale Drive in Lafayette. The Dale Drive facility is expected to close.
The employees affected by the move are eligible for federal assistance through the Trade Adjustment Assistance program. The TAA benefits are available to workers who were employed at the plant between May 2015 and August 2018. Employees will be able to receive services to help them prepare for and obtain suitable employment, as well as health insurance premium assistance and wage subsidies, if eligible.
TRW did not state a specific reason for the layoffs, however TAA benefits are made available to workers who are displaced when production is moved out of the country.
