Brackets For Good Going National
A high-profile Hoosier charity event is going national. Brackets For Good has announced a partnership with AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) to launch its first national nonprofit fundraising tournament. Brackets For Good held its first contest in Indianapolis in 2012, and has since expanded to Ann Arbor, St. Louis, Minneapolis and Louisville. The national tournament will begin in February and feature 64 charities. The winning organization will receive an additional $100,000 contribution from AT&T.
Since it began in Indianapolis, Brackets For Good events have resulted in more than $2.75 million raised for local charities, with 30 percent of that total coming from first-time donors to those organizations.
The national tournament, Brackets For Good USA 2017, will run from February 24-March 31, 2017. The organization says it will feature 64 charities "paired in friendly, yet competitive match-ups against another nonprofit." Charities will keep the money they raise in the tournament. Brackets For Good says, because of the partnership with AT&T, the event will be available to large, national nonprofit charitable organizations for the first time.
The national event will run concurrently with the 11 local Brackets For Good tournaments.
Brackets For Good Executive Director Matt McIntyre says the events exist "because we believe that communities are strengthened when more people learn about and support charitable organizations that operate in service to the community." He says he’s thrilled to partner with AT&T on the national tournament.
