Southwest Indiana Chamber Presents Annual Awards

The Southwest Indiana Chamber has named Evansville-based D-Patrick Inc. the 2016 Norman P. Wagner Business of the Year. The company, which has been in business since the 1930s, was among six recipients of the chamber's annual awards.

D-Patrick, which employs 365 workers, owns seven car dealerships, four parts and service departments, four body shops and a corporate office. The chamber recognized the company for its annual golf and tennis championship fundraisers, which has raised more than $100,000 for local charities.

The remaining award recipients include:

  • 2016 Entrepreneur of the Year: Jim Spann, owner of New Harmony Soap Co.
  • 2016 Nonprofit of the Year: Aurora Inc.
  • 2016 Volunteer of the Year: Barry Cox, president and chief operating officer of Mount Vernon-based Warehouse Services Inc.
  • 2016 Small Business of the Year: Thyme in the Kitchen
  • 2016 Richard A. Schlottman Business Person of the Year: Glen Dunkerson, chief executive officer of Evansville-based Atlas World Group

      The American Honda Motor Co. continues to invest in its Greensburg, Indiana plant as it has announced the factory will be producing the company’s first electrified sport utility vehicle in the U.S. The company says it will invest more than $4 million and add 34 new jobs in the plant to support production of the CR-V Hybrid.
