Dustin Johnson won the four-day tournament, taking home a $1.53 million check.
It is estimated to have a $30 million economic impact. Johnson also won the event in 2010, joining Tiger Woods as the only players to win it twice.
Mayor Jim Brainard says the event shines a national spotlight on the city. In an interview with Inside INdiana Business Television leading up to the PGA Championship, Western Golf Association Senior Vice President of Tournaments Vince Pellegrino, one of the lead organizers of the event, says support from the community, as well as buy-in from the corporate world and ticket sales were great.
Next year, the BMW Championship will be at Conway Farms Golf Club in a suburb north of Chicago, followed by the Aronimink Golf Club in Philadelphia in 2018 and the Medinah Country Club in Chicago in 2019. Organizers call the BMW Championship "the penultimate event of the PGA TOUR FedExCup Playoffs."
