The company says the 937,000 square-foot facility, which is expected to open next summer, could generate 900 full and part-time jobs.
Kohl’s says the facility, located at 9998 All Points Parkway, will boost its ability to fulfill online purchases. The company plans to begin hiring for 300 full-time and 600 part-time positions in the spring of 2017. The hiring process will take place over three years.
"Our investment in a new e-commerce fulfillment center is one of the many ways we are supporting omnichannel fulfillment," said Sona Chawla, chief operating officer of Kohl’s. "This is in addition to our capability to ship merchandise from our entire network of more than 1,100 Kohl’s stores nationwide and the option for customers to buy online and pick up their purchase at their local Kohl’s store, two initiatives that came to life last year."
The facility will be the company’s fifth distribution center dedicated to online purchases. The other four centers are located in California, Ohio, Maryland and Texas. Kohl’s has a total of 14 distribution centers throughout the country.
