The Indianapolis Motor Speedway has selected Matt Mindrum as vice president of marketing and communications. Mindrum, who currently serves in the same role at Butler University, succeeds Jarrod Krisiloff, who is now executive director of events at IMS.

IMS says in his new role, Mindrum will be responsible for advancing the speedway's brand and promoting all of its events, including the Indy 500, Brickyard 400 and the Red Bull Air Race. He begins his new role September 19.

"Matt has both the experience and proven leadership skills necessary to ensure the Indianapolis Motor Speedway continues to grow and excel," said CJ O'Donnell, chief marketing officer for Hulman Motorsports. "As we work to grow our talent base and deliver world-class entertainment opportunities to our fans, Matt will be a key addition to our team."

Mindrum has worked at Butler since 2013. IMS says prior to that, he served in a number of roles with Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly & Co. (NYSE: LLY), where he directed marketing efforts for the pharmaceutical company's first product launch in the U.S. Alzheimer's market.
