A developer has been chosen for the project, however the commission has yet to vote on purchasing the land needed for the building.
Skip Kuker with the Hancock County Economic Development Council says the commission is waiting to see a cost budget based on sites that fit the size of the project. The Greenfield Daily Reporter says Indianapolis-based GM Development has been hired to develop what will be a 50,000 square-foot building.
The publication reports the land needed for the project would be 12 to 15 acres, enough land to accommodate a 150,000 square-foot expansion. Kuker says a meeting date for the commission to approve the purchase of land has not been set because land costs have not been finalized.
The Daily Reporter says the shell building is being proposed in hopes to attracting businesses to the area.
