Commission OKs Plans For Goshen Inn
A Hoosier development company has cleared a key hurdle for its proposal to raze and replace an eyesore in Goshen. The Elkhart Truth reports the Goshen Redevelopment Commission has approved an agreement with Brazil-based Emmert Group Properties LLC to demolish the vacant Goshen Inn and build a $7.5 million apartment complex in its place.
Emmert wants to construct eight buildings, which would include 100 units and a clubhouse. The property has been unused since 2011 and the city acquired the property from the family of its former owner.
The Clay County company beat out four others. The publication reports the project will likely have to go before the commission again for final approval and the city’s plan commission must also change the property’s zoning.
Construction could begin in May and would be slated to wrap up before the end of 2018.
