The Region 3 Works Council and Northeast Indiana Works say the programs are essential to filling the expected one million jobs available in Indiana over the next eight years.
Work-and-learn programs include pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships and internships.
The organizations are also collaborating with stakeholders including the region’s five Career and Technical Education districts, work force and economic development leaders, as well as educators and employers.
Plans involve evaluating current work-and-learn opportunities in the region, exploring additional models in Indiana and the nation, developing an action plan and rolling out the new model.
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development contributed $40,000 toward the effort.
