The World Economic Forum’s previous pioneers include Google Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) and Twitter Inc.(NYSE: TWTR).
PrecisionHawk’s services include aerial data collection and data management and analysis.
The company, which has more than 120 employees, is no stranger to innovation honors. The company won an Indiana Innovation Award and was a finalist for TechPoint’s Tech Startup of the Year Mira Award in 2014. The company has also been named to TiEcon’s list of the top 50 technology startups and has been honored by Sustainia as a Top 100 Global Sustainable Solutions company.
Early this year, PrecisionHawk announced a partnership with Indiana State University’s drone program. The agreement will focus on projects including making sure unmanned aerial vehicles don’t collide as airspace becomes more crowded and training for commercial and recreational drone operators.
The Innovate Indiana Fund led PrecisionHawk’s $1 million round of initial financing and, earlier this year, joined multiple investors in a $20 million round of funding.
