The unification of two Purdue University campuses in northwest Indiana is official. Purdue University Northwest includes around 15,000 students and is comprised of the former Calumet campus in Hammond and North Central campus in Westville.

Officials say when the academic year begins, it will be the fifth-largest school in the state. Purdue Northwest will offer nearly 70 undergraduate and graduate programs and the athletic teams will play under the name "Pride."

Thomas Keon, who spent five years leading Purdue Calumet, will be chancellor of the school and its two campuses that are located 35 miles apart. The group of senior leaders is rounded out by Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost Ralph Mueller, Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs Carmen Panlilio, Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Stephen Turner, Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement Regina Biddings-Muro, Vice Chancellor for Information Services Timothy Winders and Athletic Director Rick Costello.

Keon says the team is "unafraid to develop its own road map for success, which is absolutely vital for PNW to become the Purdue University and regional leader we aspire to be."
