Illinois-based NB Coatings Inc. will break ground Tuesday on a facility that will serve as a warehouse and distribution center in Hobart. In Fort Wayne, officials will break ground on a new facility for locally-based Transpoint Intermodal.

NB Coatings will occupy a nearly 125,000 square foot building being developed by Becknell Industrial at the NorthWind Crossings business park in Hobart. The Northwest Indiana Forum says the project will create 60 construction jobs, along with new employees hired by NB Coatings.

A specific job creation number has not been released. The city of Hobart and the Hobart City Council have approved a tax abatement for the project. The ground breaking ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m.

Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry will be joined by Indiana Economic Development Corp. President Jim Schellinger and members of the Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission for the Transpoint Intermodal ground breaking. The ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., though city officials have not released any more information.
