SIA Job Search Focuses on Fort Campbell
Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc. in Lafayette is going outside the state fill open positions. WLFI-TV in West Lafayette reports the manufacturer is recruiting from the ranks of recently-discharged soldiers at Fort Campbell in Kentucky.
Last year, SIA detailed a $140 million expansion that would add 1,200 workers. WLFI-TV reports the military recruiting efforts is a collaboration with Greater Lafayette Commerce, which has already led to 18 visits for testing and a tour of the facility. Three employees have already started since the effort began in February.
An SIA official told WLFI-TV as many as 2,000 soldiers return to civilian life from Fort Campbell each month. Assistant Senior Manager of Human Resources Brad Rhorer says SIA will expand the search throughout Indiana’s National Guard community and at veteran-focused events.
