Purdue Northwest Names Top Official

Subscribe NowPurdue University Northwest has selected Ralph Mueller to serve as vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost. Mueller, who currently serves as dean of the University of Hartford’s College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions, will begin in his new role July 15.
Mueller will oversee six colleges and more than 70 undergraduate and graduate degree programs at Purdue Northwest.
"Dr. Mueller offers an impressive and extensive background of results-oriented academic leadership," said Purdue Northwest Chancellor-Designate Thomas Keon. "He brings to PNW proven success in key goal areas of our strategic plan, including academic excellence, student access and success, learning through engagement and discovery, and partnership development."
Mueller is the founding director of the University of Hartford’s Institute for Translational Research. He also spent five years as chair of the department of educational leadership at The George Washington University.
"To serve as inaugural Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost at Purdue University Northwest—a new entity steeped in the histories of two distinct Purdue institutions—is a unique and humbling opportunity," said Mueller. "The challenge and the great promise of growing a common culture to fulfill the University’s mission is what drew me to come and will drive me to stay."
In March, the Higher Learning Commission approved the unification of Purdue University Calumet and Purdue University North Central into Purdue Northwest. Mueller will begin at the start of Purdue Northwest’s inaugural academic year.
