Indy 500 Host Committee to Make 'Major' Announcement

INDIANAPOLIS -

The 100th Running Host Committee for the Indianapolis 500 is set to make what it is calling a major announcement this morning. Leaders from the host committee will be joined by representatives from the JW Marriott Indianapolis hotel and Indianapolis-based Sport Graphics.

The announcement is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. No other details surrounding the announcement were released.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway will also formally announce Roger Penske as the driver of the Indy 500 Pace Car. Penske has won 16 Indy 500 championships as the owner of Team Penske, the most recent of which was last year with Verizon IndyCar Series driver Juan Pablo Montoya.
