Orange Barrel Season is Upon Us
Some of the state’s top transportation officials will be in Fishers Wednesday morning to mark the start of construction season. The Indiana Department of Transportation says more than 770 road and bridge projects are scheduled this year throughout the state.
The ceremony will take place with a $21 million project as a backdrop. Last week, work began on a new interchange at I-69 and 106th street in the Hamilton County city designed to reduce congestion in the fast-growing area that will soon be home to several big developments, including the state’s first IKEA location.
Other large-scale projects on-tap this year include a nearly $19 million contract to realign U.S. 33 in Goshen, more than $8 million to repave State Road 26 in Jay County and renovate a bridge over Brooks Creek and $4.4 million to repave State Road 60 between Sellersburg and New Pekin.
Executives at the announcement include Lieutenant Governor Eric Holcomb, Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness, INDOT Deputy Commissioner Ryan Gallagher and Indiana Construction Roundtable Executive Director Chris Price.
