East End Crossing Project Nearing End
The contractors for the East End Crossing bridge in southeast Indiana say construction is on pace for completion. WVB East End Partners has given a final timeline for the project and says the bridge will be "substantially complete and open to traffic" by the end of the year.
The contractor says some of the work that needs to be done before completion includes finishing the structural steel for the Kentucky approach bridge, which is expected to be completed in the early part of this year. Installation of the cable stays and the structural steel for the main span of the bridge is expected to be completed mid-year and erection of the main span, along with final finishing works will be done in late 2016.
Crews are also working on the Kentucky and Indiana sides of the bridge to finish construction of various interchanges. You can view photos of the progress by clicking here.
The East End Crossing is part of the Ohio River Bridges Project, which includes the Downtown Crossing bridge. That bridge, also expected to be completed in late 2016, will connect Jeffersonville and Louisville.
