INDOT to Narrow I-69 Routes
The Indiana Department of Transportation will give a briefing Tuesday on the preliminary alternatives for Section 6 of the I-69 extension between Martinsville and Indianapolis. Commissioner Brandye Hendrickson will be joined by economic development executives for the briefing in Martinsville.
INDOT will give details on the reduced number of routes that "best meet the project’s performance measures while reducing costs and impacts" to the environment. The agency reduced the number of routes from 14 to five last June and held a series of public meetings on the routes through the end of 2015.
In December, Governor Mike Pence cut the ribbon on Section 4 of the I-69 extension. Section 5 is currently under construction and is expected to be completed later this year.
