Inc.’s nearly $6 million new facility plans. The company intends to locate a second manufacturing and logistics operation in the Boone County town and relocate 40 workers from its historic downtown Indianapolis headquarters.
The Indianapolis property is more than 100 years old and Boone County Economic Development Corp. Executive Director Molly Whitehead says more modern facilities will help the company prepare for continued growth. She says the incentives will help with "significant infrastructure challenges" posed by the 106th and Bennett Parkway site.
In paperwork filed with the town, the EDC says the relocated jobs pay an average wage of more than $37 per hour. A small number of new jobs will also be created with the project.
The company, which was started in 1938 by Needham King Hurst, packages and distributes dried beans and seasonings. The EDC says NK Hurst also considered other locations in Boone and Hendricks counties. The abatement will save the company an estimated $242,000 over five years.
