The new mascot for Purdue University Northwest will be unveiled later this month. Purdue University Calumet and Purdue University North Central, which will unify under the Northwest name in July, will debut the mascot logo for the Pride at events on both campuses.

The first event will be held March 22 at 10:00 a.m. on Purdue Calumet’s Hammond campus. The second will be held at 2:00 p.m. the same day at Purdue North Central’s Westville campus.

Purdue announced the Pride name in December and said the mascot would be a lion. The process to select the mascot and the name began in February 2015 and involved thousands of students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members.

Purdue says once the unification of Purdue North Central and Purdue Calumet is complete, Purdue University Northwest will have around 15,000 students across two campuses, making it the fifth largest institution in Indiana.
