ISU Renovation Project Moving Forward
The Indiana State University Board of Trustees has taken one of the final steps before a $64 million renovation project can begin. The board has declared its intent to issue bonds and reimburse the university for pre-construction costs related to work on the Health and Human Services building.
Before construction begins, crews must relocate a main sewer line and bike trail. Work on the building, which is set for expansion and renovation, is expected to begin this summer.
Some of the work being done to the building include upgrades to improve temperature control and air quality, technology improvements and an 87,000 square-foot expansion to house new academic programs and existing programs currently being housed in other parts of the Terre Haute campus.
In October, the board of trustees approved financing for the project through student fee replacement bonds. The plans were approved by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education earlier this month and now head to the State Budget Committee for final approval.
