The 130,000 square-foot building will include Pacers’ training space and medical facilities for the team and public.
Officials, including NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, broke ground on the facility in December. The building will be located near Bankers Life Fieldhouse on what used to be an employee parking lot.
The medical facility will include primary care, cardiovascular and sports performance services. St. Vincent Sports Performance will offer services such as sports nutrition, sports and performance psychology, sports science and physical training from the professionals that provide services to the Verizon IndyCar Series, NFL, NBA, WNBA, USA Football, USA Gymnastics, USA Diving and USA Track & Field.
The project, which is being privately funded, is slated to be completed in 2017. At the ground breaking ceremony, Pacers Owner Herb Simon said, "part of staying current is to have a practice facility which will help attract new placers (and) keep our current players healthy. That’s a very exciting thing for the Pacers."
The St. Vincent Center will be the 20th stand-alone training facility built by an NBA franchise in more than 15 years.
