Indiana Youth Institute Names New CEO
The Indiana Youth Institute has a new president and chief executive officer. Tami Shields Silverman will begin in the position April 4.
Silverman has served as CEO and executive director of Alpha Chi Omega Fraternity Inc. in Indianapolis for over three years. She was also CEO of Sojourn Shelter & Services Inc. in Illinois for 14 years.
"As a Hoosier, parent and longtime proponent of quality social services, I was attracted to IYI because the organization empowers people, institutions and communities to do transformative work that improves the quality of life and future outcomes for Indiana’s youth," said Silverman. "This is a terrific opportunity that any nonprofit leader would welcome. I am honored and grateful to the board for the chance to lead this exceptional organization of dedicated and skilled professionals."
The IYI Board of Directors spent seven months searching for a new president and CEO, following the departure of Bill Stanczykiewicz, who left to become director of The Fund Raising School at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. Board chair Bruce Gobdel says Silverman will lead the organization in adapting to the growing and evolving needs of Indiana’s youth.
Alpha Chi Omega says it looks forward to announcing a new CEO and executive director, but a specific time frame for the announcement was not released.
