A new cidery will open later this year in New Albany. Restaurant owner Matt McMahan says the CIDEways Tap Room + Cidery is opening, thanks to a revolving loan from the Horseshoe Foundation of Floyd County.

McMahan was awarded the $50,000 loan, which he says will be used to build a full kitchen and purchase the equipment to make cider. It's the second revolving loan McMahan has received, with the first being used to open his Big Four Burgers + Beer in New Albany. All together, McMahan has three restaurants in New Albany, Jeffersonsville and Sellersburg.

CIDEways will feature specialty hard cider, along with a variety of beers and wines.

"The continued growth of downtown New Albany as a destination for ‘foodies’ is a fantastic trend that increases our visibility in the region and contributes to a sense of place that is attractive to young professionals," said Wendy Dant Chesser, president and CEO of One Southern Indiana (1si). "1si is proud to be the administrator of the Horseshoe Revolving Loan Fund and hopes other Floyd County entrepreneurs will seek local resources for assistance."

CIDEways is scheduled to open this summer.
