Change in Manager Could Leave Dozens Without Jobs
Pennsylvania-based GENCO says as many as 90 workers could be out of work in Plainfield. In a notice to the state, the third-party logistics center operator says its client, Home Depot, plans to run the distribution facility itself.
GENCO says it is not sure if Home Depot will keep on any of the affected employees. The company expects to discontinue managing the center at the end of March. It says it operates some 140 warehouses throughout the U.S. and employs thousands of workers.
Its clients range from retailers to industrial and health care businesses. GENCO’s lifecycle services include logistics, warehousing, distribution product liquidation, returns, repairs and fulfillment.
GENCO was acquired last year in a $1.4 million deal by FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX).
