IndyGo Solar Array Up And Running
Carmel-based Telamon Corp.’s Energy Solutions division has completed a rooftop solar array at the IndyGo facility in Indianapolis. The company says the installation will produce enough power to offset the charging of 13 electric buses. Telamon says the project cost $2.2 million, with 80 percent of the cost coming from a federal capital grant.
Telamon served as the designer and engineer for the four-acre, 1MW solar array. The company says it is the second-largest array installed by an American transit operator. Telamon partnered with Enverity Engineering, Enginuity Managemement & Consulting and ERMCO on the project. The company was also co-developer of the IND Solar Farm at the Indianapolis International Airport.
In October, Telamon founder Albert Chen retired as president and chief executive officer. Former Chief Operating Officer Stan Chen has taken the top job.
