Mainstreet Hires One of Industry’s ‘Most Innovative Minds’
Carmel-based Mainstreet has added an internationally-recognized thought-leader to its team. Dr. Bill Thomas has been named director of innovative health care. The geriatrician and health care innovator is an expert on aging and founder of The Eden Alternative, a nonprofit that works to improve elder care.
Mainstreet calls Thomas "one of the most innovative minds in health care" and says the relationship will help the real estate developer "enter into and disrupt local markets of health care delivery with a consumer-centered focus."
Thomas is a Harvard University-trained geriatrician, Ashoka Fellow and winner of the Heinz Award for the Human Condition.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer Zeke Turner says "Mainstreet is committed to fundamentally changing the way health care is delivered nationwide. With the addition of Dr. Thomas, our intent is to do something disruptive, to reinvent the entire ‘senior care’ sector. He is a top innovative mind within health care and with his collaboration, we plan to take an intolerable product and make it something desirable."
Mainstreet says Thomas will help lead the development of innovative experiences for aging patients. The company develops and operates post-acute and long-term care facilities throughout the state. In 2014 the company launched a subsidiary, Mainstreet Health, which has plans to develop 10 projects this year.
