The city of Clinton is the newest member of the Indiana Main Street program. The designation comes after months of revitalization work from Rediscover Clinton, which was formed in May of last year.

Rediscover Clinton focuses on local business retention and expansion while preserving the city's heritage and creating a visual impact on the look and feel of downtown Clinton. The organization is working on a city-wide movement to promote buying local and has hosted trash clean-up and fundraising efforts.

"This achievement recognizes Clinton’s commitment to improving the economic health of our community," said Mayor Jack Gilfoy. "We look forward to the opportunities this designation provides and the strengthened focus on our small business community."

Clinton joins nearly 130 other communities in the program, which aims to encourage economic development, redevelopment and improvement to downtown areas. The program is administered by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs. It focuses on four approaches to downtown development: organization, design, promotion and economic vitality.

“Receiving the Indiana Main Street designation is a great economic development opportunity for the City of Clinton,” said Vermillion County Economic Development Executive Director Dylan Riggen. “We are very thankful to OCRA, the Rediscover Clinton Board, and the City of Clinton and Vermillion County leaders who have worked together to provide us with an entry point to grow local businesses.”
