Indiana and Kentucky transportation officials say traffic will soon be cleared to cross the Abraham Lincoln Bridge between Louisville and Jeffersonville. Though not fully complete, the "centerpiece" of Kentucky’s portion of the Ohio River Bridges Project is expected to begin taking vehicles Monday with heavy lane restrictions.

The ramp to I-65 South from I-64 East, which has been closed for two-and-a-half years, is slated to reopen early. The I-64 East to I-65 North ramp will close Saturday and remain that way until a new ramp is complete late next year.

These and other changes are part of the project’s goal of "untangling" the various junctions that move traffic between I-64, I-65 and I-71 and connect southeast Indiana and the Louisville Metro Area.

Officials say "inclement weather or other unforeseen activities" may move around any of the expected dates. They call the overall project schedule "aggressive" and expect it all, including Indiana’s East End Crossing portion, to be "substantially" complete by the end of next year.
