Southeast Indiana Remembering Trucking Executive
A catalyst for growth for one of Ripley County’s largest employers will be laid to rest Saturday in Milan. Bob Baylor joined his family’s logistics business, Baylor Trucking, in 1975 at a time when it only had a "handful" of trucks. That fleet has now grown to more than 300. Baylor was 67.
The 1970 Hanover College graduate entered the U.S. Army in 1971 and served as a high school teacher and basketball coach before joining the trucking company with his father, Chester, and brother, Steve, a few years later.
Baylor was also a member of the American Trucking Association board of directors and the Truckload Carriers Association executive committee, as well as past chairman of the Indiana Motor Truck Association. He served as a trustee for nine years at Hanover College and was a dedicated volunteer for the charity Wreaths Across America and fundraiser for Victory Junction Camp for children.
