Indians, Pirates Extend Affiliation Deal

Subscribe NowThe Indianapolis Indians have signed a four-year extension of the team’s affiliation with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Indians Vice-President Cal Burleson says the Pirates, who have been the team’s Major League affiliate since 2005, provide "one of the best player development programs in professional baseball."
The deal will keep the teams affiliated through the 2020 season. The Indians have posted winning records in seven of the 11 seasons the team has been affiliated with Pittsburgh. Indianapolis posted an 83-61 record in 2015.
Pirates Director of Player Development Larry Broadway says he "could not be more pleased" that the teams have extended their relationship. "Indianapolis is a wonderful community, Victory Field is an outstanding ballpark and the entire Indians’ staff is committed to making their operation the best in baseball."
