University of Evansville Hosting ‘Changemaker Challenge’
The University of Evansville is looking to launch a new wave of social entrepreneurs and innovators next week during its annual Changemaker Challenge Competition. The student team finalists are working on issues ranging from child abuse prevention to the university’s environmental impact.
The event is hosted by the school’s Institute for Global Enterprise. The teams are competing for a total of $3,500 to help make their ideas a reality. The competition is scheduled from Thursday, October 29 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. at the Ridgway University Center in Evansville.
The issues being addressed by the five finalist teams are:
Preventing mental, physical and emotional abuse of Vanderburgh County youth in grades 6-12 by empowering them through education and confidence building.
Creating an awareness campaign that will help reduce UE’s impact on the environment.
Developing an all-in-one website that will make it easier and more efficient for the citizens and local government to communicate their ideas.
Promoting a healthier lifestyle for the Evansville community in order to combat one of the city’s biggest issues: obesity.
Proposing the development of an Evansville area student-led clinic to serve those in need of medical attention while providing undergraduate and medical students with real world experience.
