The investment could involve more than 400 jobs in the Madison County city.
NTN Driveshaft, which is a U.S. subsidiary of Japan-based NTN Corp., has more than 1,500 workers at its operation in Columbus and says it has run out of space in Bartholomew County.
The groundbreaking comes on the heels of the city of Anderson agreeing to tax abatement for the investment. NTN Driveshaft has considered another location in Georgia.
Anderson has been pushing hard in recent years to secure investment from foreign manufacturers. In addition to the planned NTN facility, Sirmax North America Inc., which is owned by an Italian company, is building a more than $25 million plant. The Thailand-based parent of Royal Interpack North America Inc. also announced in March it would invest $11 million into an Anderson operation, which could create up to 135 jobs by 2018.
In addition to its main NTN Driveshaft campus in Columbus, NTN has a location in Frankfort and says the new jobs in Anderson could pay an average of $46,000 annually.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the project is slated for November 17.
