Three companies in Indiana have been awarded U.S. military contracts totaling more than $20 million. The work will be performed at Rolls-Royce Corp. in Indianapolis, Science Applications International Corp. in Crane and Elkhart-based Transhield Inc.

The Rolls-Royce contract is the largest of the three and involves more than $11.2 million for spare engine parts for the C-130J "Super Hercules" transport aircraft. The contract is expected to be complete by the end of 2017.

Science Applications International’s contract is valued at nearly $8.6 million and will pay for precision strike weapon and aviation support system technology. The contract is slated to be complete in April 2017.

Transhield Inc. has secured a nearly $500,000 contract. It will fund production of more than 330 protective covers for military equipment such as M1 Tanks, Bradley Armored Fighting Vehicles and Howitzers.
