WASHINGTON, D.C. -

Ten Indiana schools have been recognized this year as National Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S. Department of Education. The honor is based on high performance or notable progress in closing achievement gaps.

A total of 335 schools in 45 states and at military bases in Germany and South Korea were honored this year. The program is in its 33rd year and has recognized a total of over 8,000 schools.

The schools in Indiana are:

  • Centerton Elementary School in Martinsville
  • Farmersville Elementary School in Mount Vernon
  • Memorial Elementary School in Valparaiso
  • Murdock Elementary School in Lafayette
  • North Elementary School in Poseyville
  • Oak Trace Elementary School in Westfield
  • Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Carmel
  • Prairie Vista Elementary School in Granger
  • Saint Pius X Catholic School in Granger
  • South Adams High School in Berne
