Hoosier Brewers Fare Well at Major Competition

DENVER, Colorado -

Seven Indiana breweries earned medals this weekend at one of the country's most high-profile beer competitions. Entries from brewers in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and Bloomington took home gold at the 2015 Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado.

In all, 275 medal were awarded to 242 different brewers from throughout the country. The competition is in its 29th year and featured entries from nearly 1,600 brewers vying for awards for more than 140 styles of beer. All 50 states and Washington D.C. were represented in the entries.

The Indiana Gold medal winners are:

  • Auburn Lager - Mad Anthony Brewing Co. - Fort Wayne - American-Style Amber Lager Category
  • Sanitarium - Bier Brewery and Taproom - Indianapolis - Belgian-Style Dubbel or Quadruple Category
  • Sunlight Cream Ale - Sun King Brewing Co. - Indianapolis - Golden or Blonde Ale Category
  • Gold - Electric Stinger - The Tap Beer Co. - Bloomington - Honey Beer Category

Silver medalists from the state are:

  • Antonius 1742 Oktoberfest - Thr3e Wise Men Brewing Co. - Indianapolis - German-Style Märzen Category
  • Batch 666: Sympathy For The Devil - Sun King Brewing Co.Indianapolis - Wood- and Barrel-Aged Strong Beer Category
  • Generation Alt - Flix Brewhouse - Indy - Carmel - German-Style Altbier Category

Indiana winners of the Bronze are:

  • Hot for Teacher Ms. Doppelbock - Thr3e Wise Men Brewing Co. - Indianapolis - German-Style Doppelbock or Eisbock Category
  • Qualified - Taxman Brewing Co. - Bargersville - Belgian-Style Dubbel or Quadruple Category

      Valpo Mansion May Fall to Wrecking Ball

      A one-time mansion that once hosted dignitaries and politicians while they visited Valparaiso appears to be facing demolition, following years of decline and disrepair.  The stately mansion, known locally as the Brown home, maybe knocked down and replaced with condominiums, according to our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana.

      Carmel-based Merchants Bancorp (Nasdaq: MBIN) is celebrating Friday the grand opening of its new headquarters. The company says the HQ represents its commitment to long-term and sustainable growth.

      Honda to Invest $4M, Add Jobs at Greensburg Plant

      The American Honda Motor Co. continues to invest in its Greensburg, Indiana plant as it has announced the factory will be producing the company’s first electrified sport utility vehicle in the U.S. The company says it will invest more than $4 million and add 34 new jobs in the plant to support production of the CR-V Hybrid.

      Purdue Offers 'Stranger Things' Replica Tee

      Purdue University has partnered with trademark licensing agent CLC to produce a special-edition replica Purdue shirt that appeared on an episode of Netflix’s “Stranger Things 3.”  The university also teamed up with Venley to accurately replicate the shirt, which will be available at retailers on the West Lafayette campus and online later this month.
