New Rail Service Arrives at Industrial Park
Kingsbury Industrial Park in La Porte County is welcoming its first new rail service in more than 20 years. Economic Development Director Dave Christian says the investment by JBC Rail Services has brought "new customers into the park for the first time in a long time."
Jim Carroll with JBC says the new railyard currently has the capacity to store 300 railcars, with a goal of expanding to 1,200 cars next year. He says the facility can also handle warehousing, trans-loading and light car maintenance. He says, while job growth will initially be modest, "word gets around to the logistics community" that there are shovel ready sites in a rail-serviced park.
The park already receives rail traffic through South Shore Freight and CN lines.
