Regional Cities Plans to Receive Committee Review

Subscribe NowThe statewide panel of economic development executives charged with reviewing proposals for the Indiana Regional Cities Initiative will meet Tuesday in Indianapolis. The Strategic Review Committee is expected to provide recommendations by the end of the year on which two plans will secure a share of the $84 million program.
The committee is under the umbrella of the Indiana Economic Development Corp.
In all, seven proposals ranging from $34 million to $925 million are competing for investment from the state. More than 400 projects were included in the plans from the central, east central, northern, northeast, northwest, southwest Indiana and west central regions.
The program is designed to attract global attention to the cities, towns and counties involved as they look forge a brand and grow their talent and employer bases.
The Strategic Review Committee members are:
- Indiana Humanities Chief Executive Officer Keira Amstutz
- Davis Design Group owner Kathy Davis
- Ginovus Managing Director Larry Gigerich
- Harvard University Professor and former Indianapolis Mayor Stephen Goldsmith
- BWi CEO Gary Hobbs
- Indiana University Health Chief Financial Officer Ryan Kitchell
- Elevate Ventures CEO Chris LaMothe
- Indiana Energy Association President Mark Maassel
- KERAMIDA Executive Vice President Mitch Roob
- Thompson Distribution CEO John Thompson
- The Wheatley Group Principal Paul Wheatley
The initiative will be funded by a month-long state tax amnesty program that launched last week. The projects proposed by each region total around $3.8 billion.
