A longtime marketing firm with offices in Terre Haute and Indianapolis is set to close. The decision is a result of one of MillerWhite LLC's founders, Brian Miller, retiring at the end of the month. The business was launched in 1980 as Graphic Edition.

MillerWhite opened an Indianapolis office in 1998 and has a presence in both Marion and Vigo counties.

Bill White, who started with the company as a graphic designer in the late 1980s before becoming a partner in 1995, says around half the employees are being kept on as the business winds down.

News Release

TERRE HAUTE AND INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – MillerWhite Marketing, an integrated marketing firm based in Terre Haute for 35 years, has announced that it will be closing its doors at the end of April.

Brian Miller, one of the firm’s founders, said the closing comes as a result of his decision to retire.

“It’s certainly been a great 35 years of serving our clients,” Miller said. “While divesting of the business has always been part of my retirement plan, my partner, Bill White, has made the decision not to continue the business.”

White explained, “I’ve been doing this for 25 years, and these days, that’s a long time. MillerWhite is basically the only place I’ve ever worked. It’s been a great partnership, but with Brian’s departure, and with nine or 10 years before I’ll want to retire, I feel like I want to try something new.”

Miller said, “I feel very blessed to have been able to spend my entire working career in the area I love, doing work that I loved. We want to thank all our staff, clients and suppliers for their part in helping us achieve a level of excellence that was beyond our expectation when we began 35 years ago.”

Founded as Graphic Edition in May 1980 with four other shareholders, the firm expanded to become a full-service advertising agency in 1982. White, who had been a graphic designer with the firm since 1988, became a shareholder in 1992, then partner in 1995, when the company became Miller & White. He expanded the business into the Indianapolis market in 1998. It has been MillerWhite, LLC, a.k.a. MillerWhite Marketing, since 2002.

“We want to assure our clients and suppliers that they will be fully taken care of as we wind things down through the end of April,” White said. “In doing so, we’ll be retaining about half our staff to finish up client projects and close out the business.”

“Over the years we’ve won hundreds of creative awards and assisted hundreds of clients in advancing their businesses,” White added. “We want to thank everyone that has supported our business and our work over the years.”

Miller said, “This is bittersweet for us. We’ve been able to assemble a group of extremely talented, skilled people and offer a vast array of integrated marketing services that have helped our clients successfully market their products and services.

“At the same time,” he said, “we feel we’ve been a good corporate citizen and formed great relationships with many of our clients and members of the community. We’ve been deeply involved in the vision and future of Terre Haute. We feel we’ve made a positive difference in this community, and we’ll forever be humbled by that.”
